Shamanism is a spiritual practice that involves a practitioner (a shaman), one who is able to interact with the spirit world through altered states of consciousness such as trance.
The goal of shamanism is to direct spiritual energies into the physical world, for healing. It is through this ancient healing tradition, that one is able to connect with the elements that are the healing forces of nature and all of creation. Ceremonies to honour the spirits of nature help to promote balance and harmony and help one to connect and access universal spiritual wisdom and knowledge.
As all spiritual practices are rooted in nature, shamanism is a method by which we as human beings can strengthen our natural connection and access to the healing forces of nature through pure intent, and by using tools such as sound instruments drums, rattles, singing or crystal bowls. Tools such as crystals, wands, fans, and botanicals such as sages, resins, flowers, barks & leaves.
Each individual indigenous culture has its own ancient practice, and their tools are indigenous to their region. One could view shamanism as the universal spiritual wisdom inherent to all indigenous tribes and is rooted in nature. Shamanism stems from nature itself and shamanic practices tap into the power of Mother Earth. Shamanism is not only concerned with the healing of an individual but also with the health of the entire community. This also includes plants, animals, and all of life.
By honouring natural wonders such as rivers, lakes, mountains, caves and other sacred places we reawaken and invigorate the energy of the land or the environment we are working in. Through ceremony we honour the spirits of nature to promote healing, balance, and harmony.
Daily spiritual practice allows for the continued and exponential growth of both body and soul. The goal being to create internal and external harmony with all creation.
